I love this initiative, Dr Yildiz. I will be very happy to support the process both as an editor and curator. You also inspired me to transition my Gaming and Videos/Podcasts publication from Medium to Substack. I will make an editorial announcement for them and follow your established process. I created the place holders in my Media publication on Substack. You are paving the way for us and I am very grateful for your support.
This is wonderful news Dr Yildiz. I cross-posted it from our Illumination Library pub to inform our readers as a heads-up. As editors and curators, we had many inquiries about it after you helped most of our writers get started on Substack. As an editor and curator, I will be happy to support this initiative. Thank you for leading and guiding us.
I'll be sorry to say goodbye to your publications on Medium on many of which I was a writer. As I live in South Africa, I cannot monetize on Substack, as they use Stripe as their payment channel which is not available in South Africa. This is so disappointing for many South African writers such as myself. The cost to set up an LLC and bank account in the United States is too prohibitive. A lost opportunity where the only way to receive money in South Africa is via PayPal. Farewell, dear writer friends.
Hi Caroline, yes, I heard about the Stripe situation related to Substack and it is disheartening. But you don't have to leave our Medium publications as we will continue to support them. This is an additional resource for our writers. I hope Substack Stripe becomes available in South Africa soon. I love your stories and writing style. Best wishes.
You don't need to count only on Partner Program in Medium to earn some dollars, actually rather cents recently. You can always post on Medium your contents where you promote your other stuff, not just affiliate links, but actually also your own Amazon Kindle ebooks for example, or even your own courses. The options you have there are still limitless.
So think wider, and you can still benefit from Medium in many ways. Anything else is just excuse.
Looking forward to seeing Illumination come alive, thrive and support writers once again. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the written word, helping writers be seen and heard. And showcasing brilliant, creative and informative work ❤️🙏✨
I am confused on several fronts: how can I communicate on Slack? Do I need to get a Slack account? What is Slack? Also, if I write for ILLUMINATION Writing Academy, does that mean I should not have the same stories on my own Substack, "From There to Here?" Nancy Peckinham has also asked me to write for Crow's Feet on Substack (I already have written for Crow's Feet on Medium) but does this mean that what might be posted on her publication should not be posted on yours (or mine?) She had suggested the Streetlight story for Crow's Feet but I know you've already published it on ILLUMINATION and I don't know if it should be in three places (mine, yours, hers). Thanks. Patricia
Hi Patricia, thank you for your feedback. These are valid questions and I will answer them in a detailed article. At a high level, this new public publication will not be a mass production publication like Illumination on Medium as Substack is not geared to that. This is a discovery publication like choosing the best stories of members like once a month and introducing them to our readers to create visibility. We will make the writer a co-author in this pub so that members can easily subscribe to their profiles and personal publications. I will guide you in the process and help you choose a story reflecting your work.
Hi Dr Yildiz and Dr Broadly, I didn't know we could publish on Substack in a publication as we do on Medium. This looks an excellent initiative to me. As a new writer in the online word, my following on Medium and Substack is very low so I believe this pub can be great to gain some subscribers. Thanks for your great leadership.
I'm so happy you make that move, Dr. Mehmet! Many writers need this and now that it's coming to life again I'm sure a lot of us will gladly join and contribute to this amazing project. Thank you so much for doing everything that you do this for us.
It doesn't matter if it's not inspirational, if it doesn't trigger feelings and emotions, if it doesn't get deeper into most intimate inner thinking than most of other contents, as long as it's written entirely by a human and not with any help of AI, because AI doesn't need to feel to detect patterns, sometimes even deeper than emotion could ever reach. :D
Great initiative really loved the idea. It just feels like Medium, would love to contribute for this community as a writer and editor.

Very cool....
Excellent news, and I'd be proud to support this initiative. Cheers, Mike-- always wishing you and Dr. Yildiz and Aiden the best! 👍😊

It is a great news. And I wanted a publication in substack wherein I can post my stories just like I used to do in Medium.
Recently, I have decided to shift from Medium to Substack. I used to publish my articles on Illumination too in Medium.
Wanted to know if I can cross post Medium to ur publication in substack?

AMAZING INITIATIVE. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR ILLUMINATION.

This is great news and should be a real boost for Substack. Thanks so much for undertaking this massive project, and I look forward to participating.
